Tampa Palm Trees.jpg

With its mix of historic architecture and modern landmarks, a culture infused with Cuban and Spanish flavors, vibrant business districts and beautiful waterways, Tampa is a wonderful place to work, play and unwind.

Downtown is alive with urban parks, including the gorgeous Tampa Riverwalk, hip bars and innovative restaurants and amazing restorations of turn-of-the-century buildings.

For residents and visitors alike, there’s no shortage of things to do in Tampa. Nearby Hyde Park, an upscale shopping and dining district, there are boutique stores, as well as excellent restaurants. One of the great things about Tampa is you can venture outside of the urban, metro centers to find plenty to do off the beaten path. If you’re into hiking, biking, paddling or bird-watching, hit one of the Tampa area’s many parks and preserves, such as Hillsborough River State Park in Thonotosassa or Lettuce Lake Park in north Tampa.

The Tampa Bay sport scene is alive and well! With MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays, NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NHL Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as the New York Yankees spring training, and a number of semi-pro and collegiate teams at Tampa Bay’s premier pro sports facilities, so many experiences await!

ITINERARY (PRELIMINARY):

WORK EXPERIENCE

SUPER BOWL LV WEEKLONG FESTIVITIES

Super Bow1.jpg

Secure a spot to work with the NFL Super Bowl LV Committee, as the big show heads to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida! For four days, the Super Bowl staff will welcome us to their weeklong Super Bowl events as our group will see the innerworkings of one of the largest sporting events there is!

The current state of the sport industry is like we have never seen before. With COVID-19 canceling/postponing almost all leagues, many students and recent grads missed out on the opportunities to complete an in-person internship. This incredible opportunities will make up for that!

The Living Sport team will learn directly what it takes to work on your toes in the exciting world of the National Football League’s main event. Living Sport program participants will also attend multiple days of conference style presentations to prepare for this experience.

TROPICANA FIELD

HOME TO THE TAMPA BAY RAYS (MLB)

Tropicana Field.jpg

Tropicana Field, also commonly known as The Trop, is a domed stadium located in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States, that has been the home of the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB) since the team's inaugural season in 1998. The stadium is also used for college football, and from December 2008 to December 2017 was the home of the St. Petersburg Bowl, an annual postseason bowl game. It is currently the only non-retractable domed stadium in Major League Baseball, making it the only year-round indoor venue in MLB. Tropicana Field is the smallest MLB stadium by seating capacity when obstructed-view rows in the uppermost sections are covered with tarps as they are for most Rays games.

Tropicana Field opened in 1990. In October 1996, Tropicana Products, a fruit juice company then based in nearby Bradenton, signed a 30-year naming rights deal.
