Milan, Italy 2018: October 1st to October 10th


Milan is the second largest city in Italy. Located south of the Italian Alps, is home to one and a half million people, and is relatively close to several other popular towns, such as Venice and Florence. A bustling and stylish metropolis, Milan is titled as the fashion paradise of Italy. Luxurious brands suchs as Gucci, Versace, Armani and Prada call Milan home.

Although today it is among the most vibrant cities, Milan was destroyed during World War II and when it was revamped and restored, it rose again turning into a flourishing business capital of Italy. It is now Europe's main hub for trade and industrialization and the capital of fashion, design, music, and business. 

The city of Milan offers a wide panorama of sports facilities aimed at entertaining fans through professional sports and to provide training facilities to those who want to train at a competitive level. Football, or soccer as we refer to it in America, is Italy's beloved sport with two teams using San Siro Stadium as their home field. The city also boasts facilities that hosts a basketball team, hockey team, a race car track, an aquatics center, and a horse racing track to name a few. Milan may be known for fashion and business, but also offers a high-caliber sport scene that is sure to impress any sport enthusiast.

Often described as the world's best urban cycling race, participants in the program will secure a spot on the staff of this international cycling race. As an official member of staff, you will learn what it takes to facilitate this event from setup to breakdown. Hard work and long hours are a part of the sport industry. Our goal is for each participant to receive a true event experience that will serve as a major asset in your sport career.

The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, commonly known as San Siro, is a soccer stadium in Milan which is home to two local soccer teams. During our visit we will receive a guided-tour of the stadium and visit the team's museum. If their is a soccer match while we do our best to attend if it fits into our schedule.

With a seating capacity of 80,018, it is the largest sports stadium in Italy, and it is one of the top stadiums in all of Europe. Owned by the Municipality of Milan, the stadium opened in 1926, costing $1.92 million dollars. It has been renovated four times since its inceptions, with most recent construction taking place 2015-16. San Siro is a UEFA category four stadium. It hosted six games at the 1990 FIFA World Cup and four European Cup finals. This multi-use stadium is also host to many events particularly major concerts. The first concert held at San Siro was in 1980 when Bob Marley played to an all-time Italian record audience of 120,000 people. Other notable acts that also performed here include: Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi, One Direction, Madonna, and U2.
